DIT is committed to providing access to higher education for students of different ages and backgrounds, and to achieving quality and excellence in all aspects of its work. This commitment extends to the provision of teaching, research, development and consultancy services for industry and society, with due regard to the technological, commercial, social and cultural needs of the community it serves.
Focas Research Institute contributes strongly to the development of self-sustaining research teams in a number of strategic areas, such as bio- and nano-technologies. It underpins postgraduate research, undergraduate project work and undergraduate and postgraduate course curriculum development.
Close engagement locally and internationally with society and the economy, and active collaborative links with a range of world-class corporations and academic institutions are essential components in everything DIT does. In addition to many institutional bilateral links, DIT is a member of the European University Association (EUA) and the International Association of Universities (IAU).
Being a student in DIT is not all about study – we have almost 150 sports clubs and societies that offer everything from drama to soccer so you can pursue your interests and participate in sports while studying.
