Algoma University is located in the heart of the Great Lakes in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

We offer over 30 different academic programs, spanning the liberal arts, sciences, and professional disciplines. All of our programs offer undergraduate research opportunities and hands-on learning. Classes are capped at 75 students, even in first year, meaning that you have more one-on-one interactions with our knowledgeable and caring faculty. Our faculty will know you on a first name basis and will work hard to make your dreams a success, both inside and outside of the classroom. Personal attention and a commitment to your success are the cornerstones of an Algoma degree.

As a partner with Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig (SKG), we have a special mission to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Anishinaabe (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) populations and other communities in Northern Ontario.

Located on the former site of the Shingwauk Indian Residential School, Algoma U has a special mission to provide and cultivate cross-cultural learning between Aboriginal populations and other communities. Algoma U also offers satellite programming in Brampton and Timmins.

Our commitment to placing students first reaches into the classroom and beyond. Our professors encourage interaction, discussion and independent thought in the classroom. Algoma faculty are known for open-door policies that ensure students get the support, guidance and mentoring they need, even when class is over.

Students enjoy modern amenities, including a recreation centre and on-campus residences, and stay active with social activities, exchange programs, and on-campus employment and volunteer opportunities. Students seeking leadership opportunities and the attention required for success believe that Algoma University is the right choice.

We guarantee single rooms in residence to all first-year students and offer excellent scholarship and bursary programs.
