CDU was formed in 2003 through a merger between the Northern Territory University, Alice Springs-based Centralian College, NT Rural College in Katherine, and the Menzies School of Health Research.
Students can study both on campus and externally, fitting their course around their family or work life. CDU is also a dual-sector university, which means it offers a broad range of courses from higher education to vocational education and training.
The Casuarina campus, in the northern suburbs of Darwin, offers students a nearby beach, acres of parkland, as well as sporting facilities and Chinese and Indonesian gardens. The university also has a base in both Melbourne and Sydney which are focused on international students.
As a multi-sector education provider, CDU provides unique pathways for students, from school-based vocational training through to advanced research degrees. Our students are drawn from the local area, across Australia and overseas, consisting of Indigenous and international students, school leavers, and mature age people returning to study.
The university offers a wide range of higher education degrees and vocational education and training courses with flexible study options, including part-time, external and online.
